Gordon Lightfoot - Waiting For You download free

After a gap of seven years Lightfoot stripped it all down to a line up that he started out with way back on his first album in the 1960's. There had been signs that the tone of his voice was getting reedier and weaker since the Salute album but it is sounding much more marked here. The once beautiful baritone has gone but there's an edge that allows Lightfoot to project weight and experience to the songs in an almost contemporary style. The songs might be less catchy and immediate but here is a performer at peace with his art.
